Quick answer: width decides more tight-access hires than height. Measure the narrowest clear opening on the whole route, the turns and the stowed height on the way in, then compare them with the exact machine’s width, length and stowed height. Our slimmest scissor lifts are 0.79 to 0.81 m wide; our tracked machines are wider (0.996 m and up), so tracks are not the answer when the opening is narrow.
Widths and stowed heights on the current fleet

Figures are read from the manufacturer specification held on each machine record. "Confirm" means the sheet on file does not state that figure; we confirm it at quote rather than estimate it. Fleet data last updated 23 October 2026.
Each machine page has the manufacturer specification sheet. The narrow scissor lift hire page lists the machines you can book.
Measure the whole path, not just the doorway
Walk the route from where the truck unloads to the work area and measure the tightest point of each part: gates, door frames with the door open against the wall, door closers and frames that project, corridors including corners, lift cars and any fixed fittings. The narrowest number wins. A nominal door size is not a measurement: measure the clear gap.
Corners beat widths
A machine that fits a corridor may not fit the corner into it, because length matters in a turn. If your route has a tight 90 degree turn, give us the width of both legs and the machine’s length is checked against them before anything is booked.
Stowed height and lifts
The stowed height must clear door heads, roller doors and car park headroom; some machines fold their guardrails to go lower. Taking a machine up in a building lift needs the car door width, the internal dimensions and the lift’s rated capacity against the machine’s weight, with building management sign-off. Tell us before booking.
Narrow access and uneven ground together
If the route is narrow and the ground is also uneven, tell us early. Our tracked machines are wider than the narrow wheeled machines, so the combination is worth solving before the truck is booked. The tracked scissor lift hire guide lists their widths.
FAQs
What is the narrowest machine you hire? The table above shows every narrow-access machine’s width from its record. Check it against your measured clear gap, not the door’s nominal size.
Will a 0.81 m machine fit a 0.82 m doorway? Only if the clear opening really is wider than the machine, including the door itself, closers and frames, and the turn on either side. Send the measurement and we will check it.
Is a narrow machine lower in height? Not always. A 26ft class narrow machine gives more height on a narrow chassis; compare the working height and the outdoor rating on its page.
