How it started

A backyard, one machine, and a straight answer

Equip Hire started in a backyard in Western Sydney on a simple idea: access equipment hire should be straightforward, fairly priced, and backed by someone who will tell you when the machine is wrong for the job.

That has not changed as the fleet has grown. We still buy machines we would be happy to operate ourselves, still service them in our own yard, and still quote delivery by suburb instead of hiding it in fine print.

Every machine on this website is one we hire out and stand behind. When you ring, the person answering can tell you what it will do, when it was last checked and whether it will fit through your gate.

The fleet

What we hire out, in plain terms

Scissor lifts and boom lifts for slab, tracked machines for lawns and unsealed ground, diesel rough terrain for construction sites, and plant trailers for approved pickup. Forklifts and telehandlers are being added, so ask us what is available for your dates.

More machines are listed on the website every month, and we can source what we do not hold. Every machine page lists specifications taken from the manufacturer spec sheet on file, and says where the figure came from. Risk assessments, plant registrations and pre-operational check sheets are held for the fleet and provided with the hire.

How a hire actually runs

    You tell us the job

    Working height, ground surface, access width and suburb, not just a machine name. Four answers prevent most hiring mistakes.

    We check the fleet, then quote

    Availability is confirmed against the real machine, and delivery is quoted to your suburb with the hire, not added later.

  3. 3

    Pre-delivery checks

    The machine is inspected, charged or fuelled and photographed before it leaves. That record stays on the machine’s history.

  4. 4

    Delivery and handover

    Delivered on our own float, or collected by approved pickup with the trailer and restraint checked. Familiarisation on arrival.

  5. 5

    Off-hire when the job is done

    One call or email. Charges stop when the machine is properly off-hired and ready for collection, and we tell you that in writing.

Honest about the limits

What we do, and what we do not

We will

  • Check working height, access, ground and power before recommending a machine.
  • Quote delivery to your suburb up front, with the hire.
  • Give you the specification sheet, and tell you which figure is manufacturer-stated.
  • Provide the risk assessment and pre-operational check sheet for the machine hired.
  • Tell you when a different machine, or a different supplier, suits the job better.

We will not

  • Supply operators, site supervision or safe work method statements. That stays with you.
  • Verify your operators’ licences or run your site induction.
  • Promise a machine is suitable for a task we have not been told about.
  • Quote a working height from memory when the spec sheet is on file.
  • Send a machine to a site where the access or ground has not been confirmed.

The depot

A Sydney hire company, with the depot in Western Sydney

Sydney is our home market. Our yard at Berkshire Park in Western Sydney is where the fleet is serviced and loaded, but the machines go a long way past it. We deliver across Greater Sydney and regional New South Wales, and ship machines interstate on sale. Pickup is by arrangement so the machine, trailer and restraint can be checked with you before it leaves.
