Choose the levelling method first
Both carry the maker's slope limit. If your slope is close to it, send us a photo and we will check it.
Drive into position, set the outriggers down and the machine levels itself before it lifts. It works from that one set-up: to move, stow the platform and outriggers, drive, then set up again.

Long-term hire

Every one levels itself, in one of two ways: the Zoomlion ZS0612C and LGMG SC0610EL-2 level on outriggers once parked, and the two Almac Athenas level on their tracks and keep driving. The Athenas run plugged in to 15 amp mains power, or on a separate Kubota diesel engine where there is no power on site. Send a photo of the ground and we check it against each maker's levelling limits before we confirm.
A tracked scissor lift runs on two rubber tracks instead of four wheels, which suits uneven or unlevel ground, dirt and light mud. The tracks are non-marking, so hard floors and slab are fine too.

Uneven or unlevel ground, dirt, gravel and light mud, and slab or hard floors, because the tracks are non-marking. It is the machine to consider where a wheeled scissor would spin or rut. Deep mud, saturated ground and fresh fill still need assessing, and turning on the spot is where ground gets churned. Slope limits come from each machine's manual, which we confirm per machine.
Side access to a back yard is the usual test. Measure the narrowest point between the house and the fence, and note any step, gate post or garden edge on the way through.
Scissor lifts and vertical mast lifts are not boom type platforms, so no High Risk Work Licence applies to them in NSW at any height. Machines in this category reach 7.8 to 8.8 metres working height, and that does not change the answer.
Sites normally require recognised EWP operator training, commonly asked for as a Yellow Card, together with a site induction. The employer is responsible for verifying competency on the specific machine.

Working height across the tracked scissor lifts we hire is 7.8 to 8.8 metres. Working height is where your hands reach, which is about two metres above the platform floor. Platform height is the deck itself, and it is the smaller figure in every specification.
Recorded machine width runs from 1 m to 1.3 m. The narrowest machine here is wider than a standard 0.82 m (820 mm) internal doorway, so it needs a double door, a roller shutter or a wider opening. Measure the clear opening rather than the door frame, and tell us the tightest point on the whole route in.
Between 1,600 kg and 2,520 kg. Weight decides two things: whether the floor or ground carries the machine, and what has to be on site to unload it. Ask us for the figure for a specific machine if a slab rating or a suspended floor is involved.
Platform capacity is 230 kg to 250 kg, and that figure includes the people on the platform as well as their tools and materials. Where a machine has a deck extension, the capacity on the extension is lower than the capacity on the main deck.
