About this machine
The LGMG AR11J is a 34ft class diesel articulating (knuckle) boom lift: 12.75 m working height, 10.75 m platform height, 6.78 m horizontal outreach and 5.32 m up-and-over clearance. Four-wheel drive with 45% gradeability stowed, 0.19 m ground clearance, an oscillating axle and an auto-levelling platform. 1.85 m wide, 5.77 m long and 2.06 m high stowed, 5,400 kg, with a 355 degree turntable and a 12.5 m/s maximum wind rating.
What is it for?
Work the machine cannot stand underneath: reaching over a roof, an awning, a garden bed, a fence or a lower structure, then back down to the work face. Licence: the boom-length rule
In NSW a WP-class high-risk work licence is required to operate a boom-type platform with a boom length of 11 metres or more. The threshold is the boom length, not the working height or the platform height. Below it, the operator must still be trained (EWPA Yellow Card, boom class). A harness on a short lanyard is required in the basket at any boom length.

Measure the route, not the door
Every gate, corridor and lift on the way to the work area. Handles, hinges, bollards and stored materials all eat clearance.
Walk the ground
Compacted and trafficable beats “looks firm”. Mark soft spots, trenches and services before the machine tracks over them.
Plan the set-up and the swing
Firm, level ground where the machine stands, room for the tail swing and the counterweight, and the basket path drawn from that spot to the work: up, over and back in.
Power lines and wind
Keep the boom outside the exclusion zone for overhead lines and know the machine’s wind rating before you book an exposed job.
Make delivery space
Room for the truck to stop and unload safely. Tell us about docks, driveways and height limits when you book.

Measure to the actual task height, then choose the machine. Nothing added “just in case”.
Using the nominal door size
An 820 mm door leaf is not 820 mm of clear opening once the stop and hardware are counted. Measure the gap.
Sizing on working height alone
A boom is chosen on outreach at the height you need. The envelope chart, not the headline figure, tells you whether the basket gets there.
Skipping the harness
A harness on a short lanyard is required in a boom basket every time it moves, at any boom length.
Leaving inductions to delivery morning
Shopping centres and managed sites need the paperwork approved before the truck arrives.

How high can the LGMG AR11J reach?
Working height is 12.8 m and the platform floor rises to 10.8 m. Working height is the platform height plus about 2 m for a person standing on the platform, which is how hire sizes are normally stated.
How wide is it, and will it fit through my doorway?
It is 1.85 m wide and 5.77 m long when stowed. We look for at least 50 mm of clearance beyond the machine width at each opening. Measure the narrowest point of the whole route, not just the final doorway: gates, door frames, corridors, lift cars and the turn in from a corridor, which needs more room than a straight approach.
What is its travel height?
Stowed (travel) height is 2.06 m. Check headroom along the route: door heads, roller doors, ducts, sprinklers and ramps.
How much weight can the platform carry?
Rated platform capacity is 270 kg. People, tools and materials all count.
Can it reach over an awning or obstacle?
Horizontal outreach is up to 6.8 m. Maximum height and maximum outreach are reached at different boom positions, and platform load can limit outreach. The reach chart shows which height and outreach combinations are possible, so measure the obstacle height and how far past it you need to work. The specification sheet has the figures for this model.
What ground conditions suit it?
It is built for construction ground: compacted, reasonably level site pads, road base and firm dirt. Soft, wet or disturbed ground still has to be assessed, and it must be set up and used on ground that can carry its weight, within the manufacturer's levelling limits.
Is it suitable indoors or outdoors?
It is rated for outdoor use. The maximum wind speed for this model is confirmed from its manual before outdoor work. Diesel exhaust makes it unsuitable for enclosed spaces without proper ventilation.
Can it work on a slope?
Gradeability of 45% is the steepest slope it can drive up while stowed. That is not permission to raise the platform on a slope: elevated work needs ground within the manufacturer's tilt limit, and the tilt alarm stops elevation beyond it.
How much setup space does it need?
Allow room for the turret to rotate and the boom to swing: the rear of the machine can swing out past its wheels on many models. Check overhead obstructions and power lines over the whole working area. The specification sheet has the figures for this model.
What fuel does it use?
It runs on diesel. How refuelling is handled on your hire is confirmed with the quote.
How heavy is it, and can my floor take it?
It weighs about 5,400 kg. Weight alone does not show whether a floor can take it: suspended slabs, mezzanines, pits, pavers and lift cars need their rating checked against the wheel or track loads in the manufacturer's data, by someone able to assess the structure.
Do I need a licence to operate it in NSW?
In NSW a boom-type elevating work platform with a boom length of 11 m or more needs a high risk work licence (class WP). Boom length is a measured machine dimension, not the working height or the ft size in the name. Below that, operators still need training and competency for the machine.
