Overview

Where it works
Good to confirm: Diesel engine — not for enclosed indoor use. Requires firm access for a 5.4t machine. An online listing cannot replace a site assessment, so tell us the job and we will confirm suitability.
Decision panel
Seven questions, answered from this machine’s verified specifications. 4 still to confirm with the hire team.
A Confirm mark means the decisive figure is not on this record. Send us the site details and we will answer it before quoting; we never guess a specification.

Figures are taken from the manufacturer specification sheet for this model. Site suitability notes are general guidance: the site, the surface, the operator and the task decide what is safe on the day.

Boom-type EWP. A WP-class high-risk work licence is required in NSW for boom lifts of 11m and over; harness with lanyard mandatory in the basket.
Where we hold them, the machine is handed over with its specification sheet, operation manual and current plant registration. Ask us what exists for this unit before you buy.

Safety
Every Equip Hire machine is function-tested before it leaves the yard. The operator still checks it before each shift, tick these off as you go.

Tag it out and call us on 0472 721 234. Never operate a machine with a known fault, we will repair or swap it.
Ticking here is a memory aid on your phone, nothing is stored. The machine’s own logbook and pre-start check sheet are the record. Based on the manufacturer’s daily check requirements and SafeWork NSW guidance for this kind of equipment.
In NSW a WP-class high-risk work licence is required to operate a boom-type platform with a boom length of 11 metres or more. The threshold is the boom length, not the working height or the platform height. Below it, the operator must still be trained (EWPA Yellow Card, boom class). A harness on a short lanyard is required in the basket at any boom length.
Site prep
Five minutes of checking here is what keeps a delivery from becoming a return trip.

Every gate, corridor and lift on the way to the work area. Handles, hinges, bollards and stored materials all eat clearance.
Compacted and trafficable beats “looks firm”. Mark soft spots, trenches and services before the machine tracks over them.
Firm, level ground where the machine stands, room for the tail swing and the counterweight, and the basket path drawn from that spot to the work: up, over and back in.
Keep the boom outside the exclusion zone for overhead lines and know the machine’s wind rating before you book an exposed job.
Room for the truck to stop and unload safely. Tell us about docks, driveways and height limits when you book.

The things that most often send a machine back or hold up a job.

Measure to the actual task height, then choose the machine. Nothing added “just in case”.
An 820 mm door leaf is not 820 mm of clear opening once the stop and hardware are counted. Measure the gap.
A boom is chosen on outreach at the height you need. The envelope chart, not the headline figure, tells you whether the basket gets there.
A harness on a short lanyard is required in a boom basket every time it moves, at any boom length.
Shopping centres and managed sites need the paperwork approved before the truck arrives.

Working height, not platform height
This machine is rated at 12.75 m (about 42 feet). Working height is what a person can reach from the platform, not the height of the platform floor. The difference is roughly two metres, and it is the figure most quotes get wrong.
A spec sheet answers what the machine does. It cannot tell you whether it fits your gate, your ground or your slab, so ask us. Two details is enough.
We will come back to you on the details you gave. Your PDF has downloaded already.
