Understanding the numbers
The four specifications that decide most hires, in plain language.
Working height
The maximum safe height you can work at, with the operator included. It is roughly platform height plus 2 metres — a “19ft” scissor works at about 7.8 m, not 19 feet of platform.
Fits through doorways
Machine width decides where it can go. A standard single doorway is about 0.82 m, so a 0.76–0.81 m machine drives straight through; anything wider needs double doors or gate access.
Max weight on platform
Platform capacity is people, tools and materials combined. Two people with tools is usually 200 kg or more, so capacity decides whether the machine can carry the crew or just one worker.
Ground it suits
Electric slab machines need firm, level floors. Rough terrain machines handle unsealed sites. Tracked machines spread their weight to cross lawns, pavers and soft or sloped ground.
