# 3 Tonne Telehandler Hire Sydney: How to Choose

Quick answer: choose a 3 tonne telehandler by what its load chart allows at your load point: the weight of the load, the height it must reach and the distance out from where the machine can stand. The headline figures are separate maximums. Our LGMG H730 is rated 3,000 kg, lifts to 6.9 m and reaches 4 m forward, but not all at once: its rough terrain chart falls to 950 kg at the outer edge. Then check width, ground, steering and the attachment.

## Capacity at your load point

A telehandler carries its full rating only close in with the boom low. As the boom extends or raises, the safe load falls. To check a lift:

- Weigh the heaviest load, including the pallet and any packaging.
- Measure the height to the drop point and the horizontal distance from where the front wheels can stand to the centre of the load at the drop point.
- Find that point on the load chart for the exact attachment fitted (forks, jib, bucket). If it sits on or outside the line, it is the wrong machine or the wrong set-up position.

Send us those three numbers and we will read the chart for the machine and confirm in writing whether it covers the lift.

## The telehandlers we hire

Machine | Rated capacity | Maximum lift height | Maximum forward reach | Notes |

Dieci Apollo 25.6 | 2.5 t | 5.78 m | 3.25 m | Compact fixed boom |

LGMG H625 | 2.5 t | 5.94 m | 3.41 m | 1.86 m wide, 1.97 m high |

LGMG H730 | 3.0 t | 6.9 m | 4 m | 2.3 m wide, 6,900 kg, ±5° frame tilt |

LGMG H1440 | 4.0 t | 13.6 m | 9.22 m | Hydraulic outriggers, 12,050 kg, float delivery |

Figures are the manufacturer maximums on each machine record; each is a separate maximum, not a combination. The load chart for each machine is on its specification sheet.

## Width, ground and steering

- Width and turning. On a residential block or a basement ramp, 100 mm of width or a metre of turning radius can matter more than capacity. The H730 is 2.3 m wide with a 4 m turning radius; the H625 is 1.86 m wide.
- Ground. The H730 weighs 6,900 kg before the load. Soft ground under one wheel with the boom out is how telehandlers tip. See the ground conditions guide.
- Steering and frame tilt. Four-wheel and crab steer help a loaded machine along a boundary. Frame tilt levels the boom on a cross slope; it does not make a slope safe for lifting at reach.
- Attachments. Forks are standard. Jibs, buckets and work platforms are model-specific and each has its own chart; tell us the attachment you need and we will confirm what is approved for the machine.

## When a site specification names a brand

Scopes often name a brand or model (Dieci, Merlo, Magni, JCB, Manitou) as shorthand for a class. What matters is whether the machine supplied covers the lift points in the plan. If the specification is mandatory, for example a principal contractor's approved plant list, we will say so and point you elsewhere. If it is a description of the class, compare the specified machine's chart with ours at the same load points. If rotation is genuinely needed, see fixed or rotating telehandler; we hire fixed boom machines only.

## Licences and people lifting

In NSW a non-slewing telehandler used with forks or a bucket does not need a high risk work licence, but the operator must be trained and competent. Configured as a crane with a capacity over 3 tonnes it needs a CN class licence (or a slewing mobile crane class). A telehandler fitted with a work platform needs an approved attachment, and a WP licence where the boom is 11 m or more. Never lift a person on forks or a pallet. See telehandler vs forklift and EWP licences in NSW.

## Before you enquire

- The heaviest load, the height it must reach and the distance out from the machine.
- The narrowest access the machine must pass, and the ground.
- The attachment, and whether anyone needs to be lifted.
