## Why the obstacle decides the machine

A boom's headline working height and outreach are reached at different boom positions. Reaching over an awning needs height first, then outreach beyond it. Whether a model can do both depends on its working envelope chart, so we need your measurements to check.

## The five measurements

- Height of the work, from the ground where the machine stands.
- Horizontal distance from the nearest point the machine can stand to the work face.
- Obstacle height, to the top of the awning, veranda or fence.
- Obstacle depth, how far it projects from the building.
- Standing area, its width and length, the surface and any slope.

Photos from the street and from the side show what the numbers cannot, such as overhead power lines, trees and kerbs.

## Up-and-over

An articulating, or knuckle, boom can rise above the obstacle and then reach down and out. A straight telescopic boom reaches further but cannot bend over an edge. The knuckle boom guide explains when each suits.

## Our boom fleet

These are maximum figures. They are not available together at every point, which is why we check the chart against your measurements.

## Ground and access

Footpaths, driveways and garden beds may need ground protection or a permit. Check whether the machine has to stand on council land, and allow for traffic or pedestrian control where needed. Booms with a boom length of 11 m or more need an operator with a WP licence in NSW; see the licence guide.
